Author Guidelines

Authors are invited to submit original manuscripts to KHIDMATUNA: Jurnal Pengabdian Masyarakat. Manuscripts must be relevant to the journal’s focus and scope and should report community service, empowerment, mentoring, training, social intervention, or other community-based activities.

General Requirements

1. Manuscripts must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration by another journal.

2. Manuscripts must follow the official KHIDMATUNA template.

3. Manuscripts may be written in Indonesian or English using clear, academic, and consistent language.

4. Manuscripts should be approximately 4,000–7,000 words, including references.

5. The manuscript should be prepared in Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) format.

6. Authors must ensure that all sources are properly cited and listed in the references.

7. Manuscripts must comply with publication ethics and be free from plagiarism, fabrication, falsification, and duplicate publication.

8. All authors listed in the manuscript must have made a substantial contribution to the work.

Manuscript Format

The manuscript should use the following general format:

• Paper size: A4

• Font: Times New Roman

• Font size: 12 pt for the main text

• Line spacing: 1.15

• Paragraph alignment: Justified

• Margins: 2.5 cm on all sides

• File format: Microsoft Word (.doc/.docx)

Authors should use the journal template as the primary reference for detailed formatting.

Manuscript Structure

1. Title

The title should be concise, specific, informative, and reflect the main focus of the community service activity. It is recommended that the title does not exceed 15–20 words.

2. Author Name and Affiliation

The manuscript should include:

• Full name of each author without academic titles;

• Institutional affiliation;

• Email address of the corresponding author.

3. Abstract

The abstract should contain approximately 150–250 words and briefly describe:

• background or community problem;

• objective of the activity;

• method or approach;

• main results; and

• conclusion or impact.

The abstract should be written in a concise and informative manner.

4. Keywords

Authors should provide 3–5 keywords, separated by semicolons. Keywords should represent the main concepts of the manuscript.

5. Introduction

The introduction should include:

• background of the community problem;

• conditions and needs of the partner or target community;

• relevant literature or previous community service activities;

• urgency and significance of the program; and

• objectives of the community service activity.

The introduction should clearly demonstrate the gap between existing conditions and the expected condition after the intervention.

6. Method of Community Service

This section should describe the implementation of the community service program in a systematic manner, including:

• location and target community;

• participants or partners;

• approach or method used;

• stages of implementation;

• instruments or supporting tools;

• data collection, if applicable; and

• evaluation methods.

Approaches may include Participatory Action Research (PAR), Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD), Community-Based Research (CBR), Service Learning, training, mentoring, workshops, socialization, consultation, or other relevant methods.

7. Results and Discussion

This section should present and discuss the main results of the community service activity.

Authors are expected to explain:

• implementation of the activity;

• participation of partners or the community;

• outcomes and changes achieved;

• supporting and inhibiting factors;

• evaluation results;

• impact of the activity; and

• relationship between the findings and relevant theories or previous studies.

The discussion should not merely describe activities but should provide critical and analytical interpretation.

8. Conclusion

The conclusion should summarize the main outcomes and impact of the activity. It may also include recommendations, program sustainability, and suggestions for further community service activities.

9. Acknowledgements

Authors may acknowledge institutions, funding agencies, community partners, or individuals who contributed to the implementation of the activity.

10. References

References should:

• primarily consist of relevant and recent scholarly sources;

• prioritize journal articles, books, and other credible academic publications;

• preferably include references published within the last 10 years, except for fundamental or classical references;

• be cited consistently in the manuscript; and

• follow the citation style prescribed by the journal.

Authors are encouraged to use reference management software such as Mendeley, Zotero, or EndNote.

Tables and Figures

Tables and figures must:

1. be numbered sequentially;

2. have clear and informative titles;

3. be referred to in the main text;

4. contain readable text and sufficient image resolution; and

5. include the source where applicable.

Photographs used as evidence of community service activities should be relevant and should respect the privacy and consent of participants.

Citation and References

All citations appearing in the text must be included in the reference list, and all references listed must be cited in the manuscript.

Authors should avoid excessive use of non-academic websites, blogs, or unreliable online sources.

Plagiarism Screening

All submitted manuscripts will be screened using plagiarism detection software. Manuscripts containing plagiarism, duplicate publication, or excessive similarity may be rejected.

Authors are responsible for ensuring the originality of their manuscripts and properly acknowledging all sources.

Ethical Considerations

Community service activities involving individuals, groups, schools, institutions, or communities must respect ethical principles, including:

• informed consent;

• privacy and confidentiality;

• dignity and safety of participants;

• voluntary participation; and

• protection of vulnerable groups.

Authors must ensure that the activities reported in the manuscript do not cause harm to participating individuals or communities.

Submission Procedure

Manuscripts must be submitted electronically through the online submission system of KHIDMATUNA: Jurnal Pengabdian Masyarakat.

Authors are required to:

1. register or log in to the journal website;

2. complete all submission metadata;

3. upload the manuscript according to the journal template;

4. ensure that author identities are removed from the manuscript file when required for blind review; and

5. follow the editorial and peer-review process.

Revision

Authors must carefully respond to all comments and recommendations provided by reviewers and editors.

Revised manuscripts should be accompanied by clear responses explaining how each comment has been addressed.

Final Responsibility

Authors are fully responsible for the originality, accuracy, ethical compliance, and academic integrity of their submitted manuscripts. Submission of a manuscript indicates that all authors have read and agreed to the journal’s policies and publication ethics.
