Peer Review Process
Jurnal TARBAWI applies a rigorous double-blind peer-review process to ensure the academic quality, originality, methodological soundness, relevance, and integrity of all manuscripts considered for publication.
Under this review model, the identities of authors and reviewers are concealed from each other throughout the peer-review process.
1. Initial Editorial Screening
All submitted manuscripts undergo an initial editorial screening before being sent for external peer review.
The editorial team evaluates:
- relevance to the journal’s aims and scope;
- compliance with the Author Guidelines;
- completeness of manuscript and metadata;
- originality and scholarly contribution;
- methodological and academic quality;
- ethical compliance; and
- similarity screening results.
Manuscripts that do not meet the journal’s basic requirements may be returned to the authors for technical revision or declined before external peer review.
2. Reviewer Assignment
Manuscripts that successfully pass the initial screening are assigned to at least two independent reviewers with relevant academic expertise in the subject area of the manuscript.
Reviewers are selected based on their expertise, research experience, independence, and absence of conflicts of interest.
Reviewers must decline an assignment when personal, professional, financial, institutional, or academic relationships may compromise their impartiality.
3. Double-Blind Peer Review
Jurnal TARBAWI applies a double-blind peer-review system, in which:
- reviewers do not know the identity of the authors; and
- authors do not know the identity of the reviewers.
Reviewers evaluate manuscripts objectively and confidentially based on originality, relevance, theoretical contribution, methodological rigor, quality of analysis and discussion, adequacy of references, and overall scholarly contribution.
Reviewer reports are treated as confidential editorial documents.
4. Editorial Decision
After receiving the reviewers’ recommendations, the Editor-in-Chief or assigned editor evaluates the manuscript and makes an editorial decision.
Possible decisions include:
- Accept Submission;
- Revisions Required;
- Resubmit for Review; or
- Decline Submission.
Reviewer recommendations are advisory. The final decision regarding acceptance or rejection is made by the Editor-in-Chief or an assigned editor who has no conflict of interest with the manuscript.
5. Revision and Re-evaluation
When revisions are required, authors must respond to the comments and recommendations provided by reviewers and editors and submit a revised manuscript.
Authors are expected to provide an appropriate response explaining how the reviewers’ comments have been addressed.
Substantially revised manuscripts may be returned to the original reviewers for further evaluation before a final editorial decision is made.
A manuscript will only be accepted when the editorial team is satisfied that the relevant academic, methodological, and ethical concerns identified during peer review have been adequately addressed.
6. Editorial Independence and Confidentiality
All manuscripts are evaluated solely on scholarly merit and relevance to the journal.
Manuscripts submitted by the Editor-in-Chief, editors, editorial board members, reviewers, or individuals closely associated with Jurnal TARBAWI are subject to the same independent peer-review requirements as other submissions and shall be handled by an independent editor who has no conflict of interest.
Publication fees do not influence reviewer selection, peer-review outcomes, editorial recommendations, or final publication decisions.
Editors and reviewers must maintain the confidentiality of manuscripts and all information obtained during the review process.
